What Rental Car Works Best for Puerto Rico’s Narrow Streets?

Three carry-ons, a small cooler, and a hotel garage can make vehicle size matter fast. At Target Rent A Car, we look at where you’re headed, who is riding along, and what needs to fit before pointing you toward a rental car. Puerto Rico can mean busy city blocks one hour and a beach parking lot the next. Start with the people and bags, then choose a size that doesn’t turn every corner into a chore.

Compact Cars Keep Tight Turns Simple

A narrow Old San Juan lane or curbside opening can be the deciding detail. With our compact rental car, solo travelers and couples get a nimble option for close turns, quick errands, and smaller parking spaces. The shorter footprint also helps when restaurant lots are full. Here’s what our compact option handles well:

• Turning space: A smaller body makes close turns feel less intimidating.
• Parking: Tighter spots near shops, cafés, and restaurants are easier to work with.
• Light packing: Light packing can make a compact car a practical choice for shorter trips.

What Size Rental Works for Family Travel?

Two adults, two kids, and several beach bags often call for a little more room. For many trips, our midsize vehicles offer another option when you want more passenger room without moving into an SUV. This category suits guests who want room for passengers but don’t need a large vehicle.

Your suitcase count, seating needs, and planned stops can help narrow the choice. A midsize rental car gives you more space than a compact while still feeling manageable on town streets and in hotel parking areas. Our midsize category works especially well for:

1. Shared travel: Extra rear-seat room can make a group ride more comfortable.
2. Vacation gear: Larger suitcases, towels, and beach essentials have more space.
3. Longer drives: Its balanced size works nicely for days that cover more of the island.

Our SUVs Add Space for Bigger Plans

Four suitcases can fill a trunk sooner than most people expect. Space disappears quickly. For beach gear, a fuller passenger list, or business luggage, our SUV fleet adds cargo room and a higher seating position. Through an SUV rental, your group has more room to spread out. Target offers economy, compact, intermediate, full-size, and premium SUV options, giving travelers several size choices.

Five SUV categories give you options instead of a one-size-fits-all pick. Family outings and trips with business passengers may call for extra seating or storage that a compact car can’t hold. Choosing the right size early can save you from cramming bags around your feet at pickup.

At pickup, passenger count, luggage, and expected driving areas are worth discussing with our team. At Target Rent A Car, vehicle size is worth discussing before it becomes a problem.
