One of Puerto Rico's most beautiful beaches is at Luquillo, which is only 30 miles east of San Juan. The lifeguards are on duty during the day, and the long, crescent-shaped stretch of golden-kissed sand is bordered by swaying coconut palms and backed by a typically tranquil blue sea. Nearly a mile long, the beach is a favorite with joggers and walkers alike. You will also have access to showers, locker rooms, and public restrooms. Additionally, there are nearby food stands right outside the entryway. Even a camping space is available.
One of the most picturesque beaches is Playa Sucia, which is located in Cabo Rojo on the southwest coast of Puerto Rico. From the parking lot, it takes about 10 minutes to walk to this stunning stretch of sand and clear blue water that is ideal for swimming. Due to this, it is less crowded than other beaches, especially during the week. The renowned lighthouse of Cabo Rojo is also located here and the views are extremely beautiful, even more so at sunset.
Following the 1968 World Surfing Championships, which were held in the Rincón area of Puerto Rico's west coast, footage of surfers riding the region's regular 15-foot-high waves was shown to TVs all over the world. Many of the beaches in this area still have consistently large waves, and surfing is still considered sacred. This beach is also known as Lighthouse Beach and Maria's Beach.
